Transport Minister Anthony Loke has confirmed that legal action will be taken over damaged structures near the Bandaraya LRT station.
“(Rail service provider) Prasarana will take appropriate legal action to recoup the cost of construction and the impact caused by this construction,” the minister said.
“Best leave it to the court,” he added.
Loke (above) said this today during a press conference held at KL Sentral KTMB station.
The minister was referring to the suspension of rail services to the Ampang LRT line between the Bandaraya and Masjid Jamek stations.
In February, Loke said investigations into the incident showed that soil movement triggered damage to the structure.
The ground movement is believed to have been caused by construction work for a proposed hotel project, carried out at a site close to the affected LRT station.
Loke had then said that his ministry was considering legal action against the developer.
This was because the construction was believed to have begun without prior consultation with the Land Public Transport Agency (LPTA).
Repair works to fix the damaged pier and viaduct near the Bandaraya LRT station are expected to be completed this September. - Mkini
