PETALING JAYA: DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang has asked PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang to furnish proof that he is linked with communism.
Lim said he would have been arrested by the home ministry under the security laws when Perikatan Nasional (PN) was in power from 2020 to 2022 if Hadi’s allegations were true.
“I have never been a communist, but Hadi insists I am one. When did he discover that?
“But a communist isn’t a devil’s incarnate, as Hadi should be aware that the Saudi Arabia-Iran deal was brokered by Xi Jinping, the President of Communist China,” Lim said in a statement today.
Hadi said in his HarakahDaily article yesterday that the communists who had no place to hide in the jungles after their party was outlawed joined the DAP as a “cover.”
Naming Lim, Hadi said DAP had not changed its stand of a Malaysian Malaysia as the party openly defended secularism although Islam is the official religion of the country.
“PAS cooperated with DAP and other parties in the opposition alliance at one time based on their similar stand on humanity which never questioned party policies. There was also no confusion in their directions,” Hadi had reportedly said.
Lim, however, responded by saying DAP had helped PAS in the 1977 Kelantan Emergency when both parties agreed that their priorities are in eradicating poverty, cruelty, and corruption despite having other differences.
“After the 15th general election (GE15), he accused DAP of promoting Islamophobia. It is now five months since he made the preposterous allegation and he had not been able to furnish an iota of evidence to substantiate his wild allegation,” the former Iskandar Puteri MP said.
However, Lim said he had “no harsh words” for Hadi on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
“I do not know why Hadi has chosen Hari Raya Adilfitri to launch his attack on DAP and me.
“But I have no harsh words for Hadi, and I wish him and PAS Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, maaf zahir dan batin.” - FMT
