'Watch your mouth': Zuraida denies trying to rejoin Bersatu

Former Ampang MP Zuraida Kamaruddin has denied that she tried to rejoin Bersatu after the 15th general election.

"This is not true... I just mentioned that I will support PN (Perikatan Nasional) in the coming (state) elections.

"I'm for a multi-racial party. This boy better watch his mouth," Zuraida (above) told Malaysiakini via a text message.

She was responding to a Free Malaysia Today (FMT) report that quoted Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal saying that Bersatu rejected an application by Zuraida to rejoin the party after GE15.

This, according to the Machang MP, is because Zuraida previously refused to step down from her ministerial post, to which she had been appointed on Bersatu quota, after quitting the party.

Wan Fayhsal added that the decision to reject Zuraida's application was unanimous.

Zuraida said she will reach out to Wan Fayhsal to clarify the matter.

Zuraida joined Bersatu after she was sacked from PKR in the wake of the Sheraton Move in 2020.

After leaving Bersatu, she joined the newly-formed Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM), but she was subsequently sacked from PBM following a power struggle with its president Larry Sng.

Zuraida is currently the deputy president of Muafakat Nasional, an NGO founded by former Umno leader Annuar Musa.

The former minister failed to retain her Ampang seat, which she had held for three terms, in GE15 and even lost her deposit.

Last month, she said that she will support Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the forthcoming elections in six states. - Mkini
