PUTRAJAYA: Minister of Finance Incorporated (MoF Inc) companies have contributed RM50.7 billion in dividends to the government for the financial year 2022, says deputy finance minister Ahmad Maslan.
He said the companies’ contribution exceeded that of the previous year when the companies provided the government with RM28.1 billion in dividends.
“It can be improved through proper management and governance,” he told a press conference after opening a leadership and good governance programme here today.
Ahmad said the dividend contribution would be put into a consolidated fund for development and financial assistance to be enjoyed by all levels of society.
MoF Inc companies include Petronas, Amanah Raya Bhd, Cyberview Sdn Bhd and Felcra Bhd.
Ahmad said MoF Inc companies involved in the infrastructure and utilities sector were among those that contributed only a small amount in dividends to the government.
“These are companies facing challenges and cannot raise the price of their services to the people arbitrarily,” he said, citing Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd as an example.
MoF Inc is a corporate body established under the Minister of Finance (Incorporation) Act 1957. The Act provides the authority for MoF Inc to enter into contracts, acquisitions and purchases while maintaining tangible and intangible assets. - FMT
