Zahid had surgery to fix obstructed vision - daughter

Keen-eyed observers may notice that Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi looks different now than before.

His daughter explained that this was because the Umno president recently had surgery to fix his eyesight which was becoming obstructed.

"(His eye condition) has gotten to the point that it obstructs his sight and it became necessary to do surgery.

"As he ages, the nerves become more slack and harm his vision," Nurulhidayah Zahid said in an Instagram post in the early hours today.

Nurulhidayah said her son also suffers from the same condition, which she identified as "lazy eye".

However, a commenter corrected her and said it was most likely ptosis, a condition that causes the upper eyelid to droop and can get worse with age.

Meanwhile, Nurulhidayah also denied that Zahid (above) had the surgery for cosmetic reasons.

"Why would he want to do (change) his face, he's not a superstar.

"But when (the condition) is harmful, then something needs to be done," she said. - Mkini
