Hong Kong national allegedly beaten for bringing dogs into eatery

 

The victim was with his Malaysian wife at a restaurant in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan on Monday when he was attacked by the suspect with a plastic chair.

PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested a 49-year-old man for allegedly attacking a Hong Kong national for bringing his two dogs into a restaurant in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.

According to China Press, the 61-year-old victim was with his 51-year-old wife, a local, on Monday at about 1pm when the suspect attacked him with a plastic chair.

The victim was knocked to the ground from the impact and dragged for a short distance by the suspect before other patrons in the kopitiam stepped in to intervene, according to CCTV footage.

The victim sustained injuries to his left and right limbs in the incident.

The suspect was arrested by police yesterday and is under remand until tomorrow.

China Press reported that he is said to have told police he did not like the couple bringing dogs into the eatery.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code for assault with a weapon. If convicted, the man could face up to 10 years in jail or a fine or whipping, or any two of the punishments combined. - FMT
