Malacca to table anti-party hopping bill end of July

 

The bill on anti-party hopping will be tabled at the Malacca state assembly sitting slated at the end of this month.

Chief Minister Ab Rauf Yusoh said the bill is to prevent state assemblypersons from party-hopping.

“This is in line with the law passed at the Dewan Rakyat and the top leadership’s decision.

“So, Malacca will follow suit and the bill on anti-party hopping will be tabled at the next state assembly sitting,” he told reporters after checking out the implementation of the ‘No Right Turn’ initiative and the traffic flow at the Hang Jebat Stadium junction of the Sungai Udang-Paya Rumput-Ayer Keroh (SPA) Highway in Malacca today.

Ab Rauf said Malacca Umno is prepared to assist the Negeri Sembilan election machinery to face the upcoming state polls, especially in bordering constituencies.

“I have yet to get the details on how many state constituencies there are in Negeri Sembilan, but among the areas that we can help are the bordering constituencies such as Rembau, Tampin, Gemencheh, Linggi, Port Dickson, Teluk Kemang and Seremban,” the Malacca Umno Liaison Committee chairperson added.
