KUALA LUMPUR: The Quantum Metal Ekspedisi Perpaduan Watikah Kemerdekaan 66 London - Kuala Lumpur 2023 (QMEPWK66) convoy was greeted with Malaysia's 'national' drink - teh tarik - as they arrived in Budapest, Hungary.
One of the riders, Rosmadi Saad, said the Ambassador-Designate of Malaysia to Hungary, Francisco Munis welcomed the group with a variety of dishes including the frothy drink.
"This cured the longing we have for Malaysia," he said today.
Three hours later, the group arrived in Romania and will continue their journey of 327 kilometres to Bucharest, Hungary tomorrow.
The expedition, comprising six Malaysians riding their high-powered motorcycles, is expected to take 66 days, crossing 66 cities in 16 countries, to commemorate the historic journey of Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, who brought the Malayan Declaration of Independence from London to Kuala Lumpur in 1957.
Their 22,000km journey through 16 countries began in London last month.
The expedition is supported by the Superbikers Association Malaysia, the largest motorcycle association in the country, with Quantum Metal Sdn Bhd as its main sponsor. GB13, KMF Network, Bullion Success Group and Tourism Malaysia are co-sponsors. - NST
