PETALING JAYA: The national unity ministry will promote the use of cashless payment through its “cashless museum” initiative in collaboration with the department of national museums.
Its minister, Aaron Ago Dagang, said the effort to promote cashless payments will stimulate Malaysia’s digital agenda.
“It aligns with the department’s dedication to embracing digital content and leveraging big data within the realm of museum operations,” he said when launching Citra Nusa@Muzium, an initiative to promote the Madani concept in celebration of Muzium Negara’s 60th anniversary today.
Aaron also said the ministry was assessing and formulating a Museums Act to enhance the department’s effectiveness.
“This Act aims to govern museum-related operations in the nation. In the past, there was no specific legislation pertaining to museums, with reliance placed solely on the National Heritage Act 2005.
“Consequently, this new Act will become crucial to establish a comprehensive legal framework for our museums,” he said.
To celebrate Malaysia Day, admission to Muzium Negara will be free tomorrow, Sunday and Sept 16 for Malaysians. - FMT
