PELANGAI BY-ELECTION | Perikatan Nasional will roll out the big guns in Pelangai next week, vowed PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
Speaking at a ceramah in Felda Chemomoi last night, he revealed that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang will join the campaign from next Tuesday (Oct 3) onwards.
Following this, he said Hadi and former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad will attend a “grand finale” ceramah event, with the date yet to be determined.
”(PN chairperson) Muhyiddin Yassin, (Selangor PN chief) Azmin Ali, and PN secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin will be joining us on Oct 3,” Tuan Ibrahim (above) said.
Hadi and Mahathir were once bitter rivals.
Since 2018, however, the duo has become increasingly closer. Mahathir recently started serving as an adviser to four state governments run by PAS, otherwise known as “SG4”.

The Pelangai by-election has a greater potential of upsetting the political balance in Pahang, which has yet to enact anti-hopping laws to discourage the defection of lawmakers.
Pelangai is a rural constituency with three large Felda settlements sandwiched between Karak and Triang. In 2022, BN retained the seat in a convincing manner while PN came in at a respectable second place.
Three days into the campaign, the pace has been slow so far. Tuan Ibrahim’s ceramah last night saw a very small crowd, likely due to him being the only national-level figure speaking.
Several speakers urged voters not to retain the BN candidate because Umno was now allied with Pakatan Harapan and DAP.
