Bersatu leader: Get Rais or Hanifah to lead N Sembilan PN

In turning down ideas of him reassuming the Negeri Sembilan Perikatan Nasional chief post, Bersatu supreme council member Eddin Syazlee Shith suggested two other names for it.

The former Kuala Pilah MP proposed for either Jelebu Bersatu chief Rais Yatim or Labu assemblyperson Hanifah Abu Baker to take up the post.

“It’s better to give the position to a seasoned figure or an elected representative who is energic and continues with the party’s struggles.

“Rais has the experience and administrative capabilities while Hanifah is also suitable as he is an assemblyperson,” Free Malaysia Today reported Eddin as saying.

On Jan 3, Utusan Online reported Negeri Sembilan PAS commissioner Rafiei Mustapha (below) accused incumbent state PN chief Ahmad Faizal Azumu of “neglecting” the state.

He claimed that Faizal was not attentive to the various issues plaguing the coalition - including the lack of allocation from the state government.

“I have to come clear on this. Since the state elections, he (Faizal) has not bothered about PN’s condition in the state.

“We won five (state seats), so we have to put in the work to assist all elected assemblypersons,” Rafiei was reported as saying.

Faizal, who is also Bersatu deputy president, was appointed state PN chairperson to replace Eddin who was dropped last June.

‘Don’t delay’

Following Rafiei’s remark, Negeri Sembilan Bersatu’s associate wing chief R Sri Sanjeevan suggested that Eddin reassume the post.

Responding to criticisms against Faizal, Eddin urged the coalition leadership to expedite a replacement or risk losing support from the public.

“Don’t delay, as there are already signs that voters in Negeri Sembilan are losing interest in PN and Bersatu,” he said.

Rais, during his Umno days, had served as minister in various portfolios. He joined Bersatu in June 2018 and served as Dewan Negara president from Sept 2020 until June last year. - Mkini
