Guards refuse to leave after new firm hired

The joint management committee of a luxury condominium block here has filed a police report against a security firm for continuing to station its guards on the premises despite the termination of the firm’s services.

The chairman of the Armanee Terrace Condominium JMC, Parveen Sindhu, said the report was lodged at the Damansara police headquarters after the guards from Ramli Security Sdn Bhd refused to leave their posts despite numerous requests.

The JMC had taken over the running of the condominium block on Dec 16 last year after obtaining a court order as the rightful management committee.

“After taking over, the JMC on Dec 23 terminated the services of Ramli Security, which had been engaged on a monthly contract from March 29. It’s the JMC’s prerogative under the Strata Titles Act 2013 to appoint any firm for any of its services.

“Despite that, Ramli Security continued to place its guards at the condominium block, which has upset the owners who are concerned about additional costs as the JMC has engaged another security firm from Dec 24,” Parveen told FMT.

Parveen said despite having met the district police chief, no action has been taken to stop the Ramli Security guards from trespassing into the property.

She also said the court case involved the current JMC and the previous committee, and had nothing to do with Ramli Security.

“The residents are concerned as this affects the security of the owners and their family members,” she said.

Frustrated with the lack of police action, Parveen said they lodged a report with Bukit Aman’s police integrity and standards compliance department on Friday.

A Petaling Jaya police spokesman said they were investigating the report.

An official at Ramli Security declined to comment. - FMT
