I did not refer to the king, says Fadhli on cryptic post

PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said the metaphor posted on his Facebook account was not made in reference to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

PETALING JAYA
PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari has clarified that a cryptic message he posted on social media had nothing to do with the royal institution.

Fadhli said the metaphor posted on his Facebook account was not made in reference to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

He said Istana Negara’s statement last Friday, which called for the royal prerogative for pardons and established procedures to be respected, did not explicitly prohibit PAS’s solidarity rally for former prime minister Najib Razak planned for tomorrow.

Instead, he said, it was DAP which strongly criticised Umno for initially agreeing to take part in the rally alongside PAS.

Although the Umno leadership had responded to DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng’s remarks, in the end, the party backed out of the gathering, he said.

“Therefore, it’s clear that my post has no connection to the king. Nevertheless, Amanah Youth has the right to file police reports (against me).

“As a citizen, I am prepared to be investigated in accordance with the justice system,” he said in a statement.

Fadhli had posted in Malay on Facebook late on Friday night, saying: “Disangka jantan berkokok nyaring, rupanya ayam betina bertelur sebiji. Disergah biawak, digadai reban.”

Yesterday, Amanah Youth instructed its state chapters nationwide to lodge police reports against him over his social media post which critics claim were demeaning of the royal institution.

Several government elected representatives had also questioned the metaphor Fadhli used, alleging that it could be interpreted as defiance against the king.

Fadhli also said some lawyers had suggested he sue Amanah Youth for accusing him of insulting the monarchy.

“However, I must consider further action based on future developments,” the Pasir Mas MP said. - FMT
