IT IS general knowledge for everyone that dogs and cats hate each other. This timeless rivalry probably spawned the idiom, “raining cats and dogs,” which meant a heavy rain.
So it should come as a surprise for people to come across a pet dog and cat enjoying a quality relationship that ends only in the grave.
Take it from a recent heartbreaking video on X by netizen @denni_sauya where a dog could be seen attempting to revive his friend, which happens to be no other than a cat.
Now what are the odds of such a friendship occurring? Sadly, the cat in the video was already dead, so no amount of pawing will bring it back to life.

Netizens by the numbers expressed sympathy for the animal.

The brief video did not reveal the location of the scene or whether the animals were strays. Regardless, it sends a strong statement contrary to mainstream opinion that canines and felines can never be friends.
On another note, is this behaviour so uncommon? According to ADAPTIL, dogs don’t necessarily hate cats. They simply have a natural instinct to chase anything that moves fast, which comes from their ancestors in the wild. Therefore, a cat running away seems like a fair game to them.
“Some dogs do fine living with cats. Others simply cannot live safely with felines. And sometimes, a dog can live with certain cats, depending on their age, temperament, and activity level, but not others,” warned Best Friends Animal Society.
Owners who want to bring their pet dog and cat together can try the slow and steady desensitisation technique by gradually increasing their exposure.
However, the website also pointed out that each dog and cat is an individual, environments are different, and each introduction is different. — Focus Malaysia
