
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds affecting several areas in seven states until midnight.
In a statement, MetMalaysia said the warning covered parts of the peninsula, Sarawak and Sabah.
In the peninsula, affected areas include all of Melaka, as well as several districts in Terengganu – Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman.
Similar conditions are expected in Jerantut and Bera in Pahang; Jempol and Tampin in Negeri Sembilan; and Tangkak, Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang and Pontian in Johor.
In Sarawak, affected areas include Sarikei, Sibu, Limbang and Song in the Kapit Division, as well as Pusa, Saratok and Kabong in the Betong Division.
In Sabah, the warning covers Sipitang in the Interior Division, Sandakan, and Tawau, Kunak and Lahad Datu in the Tawau Division. - NST
