No PH-BN pact for Melaka polls, says Khalid

 The Amanah communications director says, for now, the coalition is open to working with any other party except BN and PN.

Amanah communications director Khalid Samad said PH would contest the Melaka polls based on the principles it stood for.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) will not team up with Barisan Nasional (BN) for the upcoming Melaka state election, says Amanah communications director Khalid Samad.

Khalid said, for now, the coalition was open to working with any other party except BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN).

“We will not accept an offer to work with BN. If BN wants to work with PN, that is their right and it is up to them.

“As for PH, we will contest based on the principles we stand for,” he was quoted by Berita Harian as saying.

His remarks come a day after Melaka Bersatu and PH leaders attended a closed-door meeting at a hotel in Melaka.

Bersatu information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz, election director Ali Mohamad, associate wing chief R Sri Sanjeevan, and Melaka information chief Hishamuddin Karim were among those present.

Also spotted were Melaka Amanah chairman Ashraf Mukhlis Minghat and acting Melaka PKR chairman Adam Adli.

PH communications director Fahmi Fadzil, however, downplayed reports about the meeting.

Fahmi said the coalition had yet to commence official talks with Bersatu on an alliance for the Melaka polls, adding that the PH presidential council makes the final decision on political cooperation. - FMT
