The ringgit edged down to 4.0790/4.0860 as strong US economic data supported the greenback.

KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened higher against a basket of major currencies, but slightly lower against the US dollar on Thursday, weighed down by strong US economic data that supported the greenback.
At 8am, the ringgit edged down to 4.0790/4.0860 against the greenback from Wednesday’s close of 4.0785/4.0820.
Bank Muamalat Malaysia Bhd chief economist Afzanizam Rashid said the US final gross domestic product (GDP) for the second quarter of 2026 came in at 2.2%, above the consensus estimate of 1.5% - FMT
