POLITICAL commentator Mak Khuin Weng has taken a swipe at DAP by casting fear that the satirical AI-video Drama King 纯属虚构 which debuted on Facebook in October 2026 may change the perception of party loyalists towards the Madani ally.
The page with Bahasa Malaysia subtitle quickly went viral in late October 2026 as evidenced by it having amassed 62K followers in a short time span for its life-like, Mandarin-spoken AI parody skits featuring Malaysian politicians navigating fictional political dramas and election dilemmas.
“DAP has a huge problem. There’s a Facebook channel called Drama King posting satire videos with our politicians as the actors,” penned the former MBPJ councillor who ran for the Bukit Gasing state seat under the DAP ticket in 2013 in a FB post.
The production is done entirely by AI and everyone speaks in Mandarin but it is so life-like to the actual politicians that it helps the audience get past all the unnecessary character introductions you usually need for introducing a show.”
In the short skit, the cast of DAP leaders panic over news of MCA being given extra seats to contest and they worry about losing and how bad that would look.
“But the punchline was a Bersatu politician (president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin) coming in to say something he should not say.
DAP losing loyalists
Since the intended audience knows who all the cast of actors are already, the focus is entirely on the news that is being delivered and the comedic factor in what that piece of news actually means, according to Mak.
“This has reached a lot of elderly Chinese voters because it’s easy to share and laugh at,” he observed in his review of Drama King 纯属虚构.
“Where in previous years the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition ruled this space of political propaganda by sending out short videos or posters via WhatsApp, the role is entirely reversed today. And PH is unable to cannot counter this.”
Delving further, Mak stressed as to how in today’s world AI can serve as “a powerful to allow a creative individual to truly make satirical content out of our politics”.
“But the AI tools are also just that – tools. To create similar content that is so captivating and entertaining, DAP needs a similarly talented individual who both wants to do this type of content and know how to manipulate the tool,” challenged the former journalist with The Star.
“And being in the ruling government with access to lots of funds, it may be easy to get talent who can use the tools, but the passion may be entirely lacking. “
In this regard, Mak contended that it has been a long while since “we saw anything creative out of PH’s propaganda”.
“All they do nowadays is send cytros (cybertroopers) with new accounts to talk nonsense all over FB and these are easily countered or banned,” he chided.
“These AI videos are making their rounds because people are sharing it. And this little fact alone – that such content is reaching the elderly Chinese voters here – is enough to make me say that DAP will lose big in Melaka (state election on Nov 14).” – Focus Malaysia
