Hadi brands CSA with opposition MPs ‘Dajjal-like’

The PAS president says this is because power is no longer regarded as a trust that must be upheld for the benefit of all.

PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang said any party that formed the government was duty-bound to fulfil its responsibility towards the people without requiring additional pledges or undertakings.
PETALING JAYA:
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has likened the confidence and supply agreement (CSA) signed between the government and seven opposition MPs to Dajjal’s deception.

The Dajjal is a great deceiver whose emergence is regarded in Islam as one of the major signs of the approaching Day of Judgment.

In a statement, Hadi said the Prophet Muhammad had warned that before the emergence of the great Dajjal, several “lesser dajjals” would appear throughout the world.

“A CSA is Dajjal-like as power is no longer regarded as a trust that must be upheld for the benefit of all, but instead becomes a means of coercing others to ensure the government remains in power.

“Although its proponents do not claim to be gods like the great Dajjal, they nevertheless display the characteristics of Dajjal,” he added.

Hadi said the Dajjal would have the power to conquer the world and compel people to obey him by offering them “worldly comforts and pleasures” and those who opposed him would be subjected to torture.

He also said any party that formed the government was duty-bound to fulfil its responsibility towards the people without requiring additional pledges or undertakings.

Yesterday, Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said the coalition refused to sign a CSA with the government simply to access constituency funds.

He said the actions of the Bersatu MPs, led by former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, who signed the CSA did not reflect the opposition coalition’s official position.

Last Thursday, Muhyiddin, Muda’s Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and five other Bersatu MPs signed the CSA, giving them access to constituency development funds that government MPs have had access to for the past four years.

The CSA also underlined two key reforms for Putrajaya to undertake in exchange for their support – limiting the prime minister’s tenure and separating the roles of the attorney-general and public prosecutor before the end of the parliamentary term.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the CSA was open to all opposition MPs, while his deputy, Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, said the deal should be extended to other opposition parties. - FMT
