Prepared for lock-up detention possibility, Rafizi shares knowledge on charge, survival tips

BERSAMA co-leader Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli who is being probed by the police in Bukit Aman is prepared for the possibility of him being detained in police lock-up.

He is being investigated under section 500 of the Penal Code for criminal defamation and section 505 for making statements conducing to public mischief and has been called to record his statement in Bukit Aman today (Nov 3).

The probe is related to a speech that he gave during a ceramah in Selayang on Oct 20.

Speaking at a ceramah in Gadek, Melaka last night (Nov 2), the vocal former economy minister pointed out the difference between a criminal defamation and a normal defamation suit.

Those who are involved in defamation suits can counter sue their opponent. Those who are facing criminal defamation would see the entire security apparatus hounding them. It is also supposed to be matters concerning the nation.

As for the charge under section 505 of the Penal Code, he questioned whether any ceramah of his had resulted in riots. He noted the fireworks that paused his speech at the initial stage,

The former Pandan MP related about the corporate mafia and its extensive links, equating it to Bollywood movies that run three-and-a-half hours. One cannot just watch a song clip and be able to understand it, he added.

The former PKR deputy president also offered tips as there is a possibility of him being detained in lock-up.

It is vital to have clean underwear because he doesn’t know whether he would be detained in a lock-up.

In the event he does end up in a lock-up, his next tip is not to get hungry quickly. Taking the Jinjang detention centre as an example, he described the centre having centralised washrooms that are equipped with CCTV and that puts him off from using the toilet.

What’s the motive? They are freaking out

Rafizi is also in the dark over the motive of the powers that be who initiated the probe since he has been leading Bersama in the Melaka election campaign.

He also pointed out that neither UMNO nor PAS spoke about corporate mafia. The same goes for DAP even though the party is made up by many lawyers.

As for the thousands of followers on YouTube and social media, the co-host of Yang Berhenti Menteri podcast pointed out that they may listen to him talking but not necessarily believe in what he was saying.

He joked that the thousands who listen to his podcast and ceramah probably listen because they need to hear his voice to sleep

On a serious note, he knows that the Madani government is really afraid about the corporate mafia issue.

He further confirmed receiving a legal notice from businessman Datuk Seri Farhash Wafa Salvador who is closely associated to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Zetrix AI Bhd that has been in the news recently has also filed a suit against him.

Rafizi went to query why all the individuals and parties named by him are freaking out to the extent that they would ban the term “corporate mafia”.

He reminded his political opponents that he had already experienced detention in lock-ups during the Najib administration to the point that he was not qualified to contest.

“The rule is you must know your enemy more than anything else. Those who are freaking out now don’t realise that I have been detained,” he said.  ‒  Focus Malaysia
