Land of the courageous: SABAH 'TAK SABAR LAGI'

Sabah ‘tak sabar lagi’.

Indeed what happened in Sabah on Sunday, July 30 should be a beacon to all those who are still walking with blinkers. Sabah leaders with their people’s full backing are stepping forward with courage – a commitment to return to Sabah what rightfully belongs to all Sabahans.

That in itself is a turning point in the new chapter of Sabah’s painful politics.

No amount of money, no amount of power and positions and control can hold the Sabahans under the thumb of political corruption.

What is developing and turning around in Sabah is no small, insignificant drop in the ocean of BN politics. It is a tsunami – only problem is the pro-BN media are watering down the truth down the gutter-media that is sworn to misplaced loyalty.

For the rest of Peninsular Malaysians, the Sabah episode is also a strong lesson in political thought and development. For those under Pakatan governance, the citizens feel jubilant. For those in the States under BN rule, there is a mixed reaction.

East Malaysia's tsunami

Those without blinkers are now humbly learning a lesson on political and socio-economic courage from the Sabahans. A State that despite being so oil and timber rich and has been left for decades to swirl in the poverty-waters is awakening with realization starting with its leaders.

For those BN die-hards, it is going to take a bigger tsunami – in all likelihood from Sarawak, that is going to shake the daylight out of their wits.

It is really sad is it not? For a political coalition that had five decades of lead advantage, now when faced with a looming crisis continues to flog its very own dead horse within its stable.

All that cash handouts to citizens and unprecedented Santa Claus ang-pows to FELDA settlers only further goes to convince the rakyat that BN is desperate.

Ten years ago, if one stated that Sabah despite its way off backwardness will be the first State to teach Malaysians all about political courage and socio-economic change, it would have drawn loud, unashamed bawdy laughter.

But today, this Sunday, the sons and daughters of Sabah have stepped forward with a defining battle-line that will be impossible to downplay. Indeed these are developments that only losers will dismiss. The time has arrived for a Sabah that tak sabar lagi.
