IPOH, Feb 23 – Malaysia is not a desperate country as alleged by the opposition, said Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon.
He said the country had achieved much progress, albeit some drawbacks, as evidenced by its economic growth of 5.6 per cent last year.
“The opposition is very good at talking...they will politicise a minor subject and turn it into a major issue,” he said when speaking at a Chinese New Year function and presenting financial contributions and education assistance to the needy at Dewan Orang Ramai, Kampung Simee here today.
On the public bickering among opposition parties in Johor, he said it showed they were in disagreement with one another.
“We have a political coalition (Barisan Nasional), we avoid from quarrelling openly. We resolve any disagreement among us amicably. We want to bring about real transformation in an atmosphere of stability, not in a chaotic environment solely to seize power,” he said.
He said the people should exercise their discretion in the next general election to ensure they chose leaders who were hardworking and earnest in their responsibilities. – Bernama
