Dead chicken, red paint at Teresa's office

Red paint was this morning found splashed on the staircase leading to the service centre of the DAP’s Seputeh MP Teresa Kok.

A dead chicken and a photograph of Kok were also found about 9am at her office in Kuchai Lama, Kuala Lumpur, by the manager of the office block management company, Sim Foo Lan.

Sim then informed Kok and lodged a police report on the matter.

Speaking to the press at the scene, Kok said she believes the incident is related to her controversial political satire video clip ‘Onederful Malaysia CNY 2014’.

She revealed that a funeral wreath was also found in front of her office earlier this month, on the sixth day of Chinese New Year.

“I urge all parties, including the social media and bloggers to stop harping (on this issue). They have been playing up this issue for two weeks already...

“They should know very well from the subtitle. Nothing in the video content insults the Malays or national leaders,” Kok said.

‘I have no bodyguard, but people are with me’

The DAP vice-chairperson fears that her personal security is being threatened by the series of incidents against her, including the demonstration on the streets of Kuala Lumpur, during which a group of Muslim NGOs offered a bounty for slapping her.

However, Kok said, members of the public were also “very angry” with all the incidents that have taken place.

Asked if she is scared, Kok said, “Yes and no. I still have to carry on with my work and attend functions to meet the people.

“I have no bodyguard. But when I attend functions, there will be more people with me.”

Condemning today’s incident, Kok said she was also sorry for the other affected unit owners, for the staircase is shared by eight units.

Sim, who also attended the press conference, said she suspects the incident took place between 11pm yesterday and 6am today.

“I was informed by some restaurant workers next door that there was no such thing when they left at 11pm yesterday.

“But they found the paint splashed on the staircase when they opened the restaurant at about 6am today,” Sim said.
