KUCHING - Miss Malaysia World 2014 Dewi Liana Seriestha has become the country’s first contestant to make it as one of two finalists for the Miss World fast-track challenge Miss Talent, since the category was introduced for preliminary rounds in 2003.
The Kuching-born lass’ father Yuhdi Seriestha emailed The Borneo Post regarding her success in London.He said Dewi and fellow finalist, Miss Scotland Ellie McKeating will compete in the Miss Talent final, with the winner to have the opportunity to perform during the Miss World Final itself this Sunday, which will be telecast live globally.
“We hope that Dewi Liana Seriestha would win the competition and make it to the final of the main event and win the crown,” he said.
Dewi along with other winners and finalists of the fast-track events will be awarded bonus points, which are added to their preliminary scores.
Contestants with the highest points will qualify for the final round at ExCel London, where the top five will be selected for the question and answer round.
Dewi is competing with 122 delegates from all over the world for the coveted crown. The contestants have undergone training and taken part in various preliminary events.
The other challenge events are Beauty with a Purpose, Multimedia, Sports and Fitness, as well as Top Model.
Malaysia’s best record at the pageant was in 1998 when Lina Teoh was second runner-up, while Arianna Teoh (1997) and Rahima Orchient Yayah (1994) placed in the Top 10. - BP
