KUALA LUMPUR - The sole Malaysian on board missing AirAsia Flight QZ8501 is reported to be from Kuching.
Harian Metro reported that a representative from AirAsia had already visited the home of Sii Chung Huei’s family in Kuching this morning.
Earlier, Hong Kong media identified the identity of the Malaysian passenger as 56-year-old Sii who worked for a timber company in Surabaya.
He was said to be travelling home to Sarawak via Singapore.
It was understood that Sii was originally from Bintulu who later moved to Sibu and then to Kuching.
The report also alleged that Sii was meant to travel back home with a colleague who had booked a direct flight to Kuala Lumpur before heading to Sarawak.
It was also reported that the man has a wife who is a lecturer and two daughters and a son.
His family and relatives were reportedly shocked from the incident and were already at Changi Airport, Singapore, awaiting news on the incident.
AirAsia flight QZ8501 en route to Singapore lost contact with Jakarta air traffic control (ATC) tower after taking off from Surabaya earlier this morning.
The aircraft is an Airbus A320-200 bearing the registration number PK-AXC. - http://www.therakyatpost.com/
