Don’t expect Najib to stop sodomy roadshow

Ariff Sabri says Anwar's lawyers should have their own roadshow.

PETALING JAYA: It would be futile to expect Prime Minister Najib to stop the Khairy-Shafee roadshow against Anwar Ibrahim, Raub MP Ariff Sabri Abdul Aziz says in his latest blog posting.

He says Najib would not step in to stop the destruction of Anwar because, in his and BN’s eyes, “Anwar stands in their way to domination.”

Neither would it do, he adds, for Anwar sympathisers to call for an end to the roadshow by citing traditional Malay values such as “loyalty, kind-heartedness and chivalry over a defeated opponent”.

“Our response to what KJ and Shafee and Umno are doing,” he says, “should not be couched at all in the language of a supplicant.”

Ariff advocates the demolition of Shafee’s belief in Anwar’s guilt by an equal belief in his innocence. He proposes that lawyers defending Anwar go around and rebut Shafee point by point.

He says the roadshow gives Pakatan Rakyat “a reason to offer a syllabus about the tyranny, governmental dishonesty and corruption for people to judge”.

He says Umno is “divided between those who think enough has been done to Anwar and those who think Anwar must be utterly humiliated and his family destroyed”.

“Those who wish Najib will step in are attributing too much finesse beyond what the man deserves. The mark of the man is, he looks after his interest first and foremost by sowing seeds of dissension among Umno members.”

He desribes a presentation by Shafee yesterday as “time spent with matronly looking Wanita Umno” during which he spoke about “Anwar’s Kamasutraic actions, eliciting obvious passion-stirring reactions”.

“For a brief moment,” he says, “Shafee Abdullah did a great service to most of the women assembled in Putrajaya, giving them a chance to mentally relive a previous active sex life — or perhaps still is. On hand to cheerlead Shafee on was his 4th College UM mate and law course mate, Shahrizat Jalil.”
