It must have been like something out of a horror movie for some 500 cinema-goers who found they were unable to get out when a fire alarm sounded as the door at the emergency exit was locked.
A report in the Malaysia Nanban said the incident had happened at 8pm on Wednesday.
The patrons had left their respective cinema halls at GSC IOI City Mall Putrajaya when the alarm sounded but was unable to get out as the emergency door was locked, the report said.
Although they were not in immediate danger, many of the patrons started to panic and started to shout and scream when no one turned up to open door after 15 minutes.
Help finally arrived and all the patrons left the cinema unharmed.
GSC is expected to issue a statement on the matter.
