Marina Mahathir gives RUDE PHOTOGRAPHER a lesson in manners
KUALA LUMPUR - A street fashion photographer was left red in the face when he realised belatedly that he was being rude to Marina Mahathir on Instagram.
The social activist, who is also the daughter of former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad, was using the Instagram handle matanetra when she commented on one of his photographs.
The photograph was that of Zaihani Zain who used to work for Media Prima as a fashion advisor and was now mentoring young designers.
The picture taken by Ridduan Ismail shows a hip-looking older woman in a white shirt and an impressive necklace, standing in front of a blackboard seemingly while tutoring a class.
Marina had commented on the picture asking about the identity of the woman and asked about the necklace she was wearing.

“So not ‘glamour’ of you to ask that question,” he wrote after checking her profile and noticing that she had liked the glamour section in order to receive such updates on her Instagram page.
Bewildered by his rudeness, she nevertheless tried again, only to have him merely respond with a curt, “..always think before you put a comment here”.
Ridduan who then belatedly realised who Marina actually was, scrambled to delete all her questions and his churlish remarks.
Marina, upon noticing this, posted a rather lengthy comment in response to his actions and said, “I don’t understand why you had to be so rude.
“And to think that I was thinking of some jobs for you.
“My philosophy in life is to be nice to everybody because you never know who you are being rude to.”
Ridduan, now using a decidedly more respectful tone, then apologised to her because he “didn’t know that it was her” and explained himself.
Brushing his explanations aside, Marina said, “you should not be rude to anyone, regardless of who they are”.
“Surely your mother taught you basic adab (courtesy)”.
Marina then added, “So I will accept your apology out of consideration for your mother but I will stop following you.” - FMT
