He was selling RM7 for a can of beer before the implementation of GST.

GEORGE TOWN: A stall owner selling drinks at a food court in Lebuh Pantai, here was issued a show cause notice for increasing the price of beer.
State deputy enforcement chief of the Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Ministry, Chin Ching Chung said the notice was issued to the owner during Ops Catut that was carried out at the non-halal section of the Medan Selera (Food Court) yesterday.
Chin said the owner had increased the price of the drink without a valid reason.
“Before the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), a can of beer was sold at RM7, but upon inspection today, the price had increased drastically to RM8.50 a can although GST is only 6%,” the enforcement officer told reporters in George Town.
He said the owner had been given three days to reply to the show-cause notice and that legal action could be taken for such an act.
About 50 premises selling food and drinks at two Medan Selera in George Town were inspected under Ops Catut.
Chin said such checks would be carried out at random to nab irresponsible traders who increased their prices under the pretext of the GST which was implemented on April 1.
