Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar today said there was no need to set any conditions in the mooted showdown between DAP's Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua and 1MDB president Arul Kanda.
Noh, who is also Tanjung Karang MP, said this after Arul agreed to be interviewed by Pua in a live talk show on condition the DAP lawmaker resigns as a member of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
Noh said he fully supported Arul's move to accept Pua's challenge but added that setting conditions were unnecessary.
"The open debate should be held unconditionally even though Arul (photo) had set a condition that Pua must first resign as a PAC member.
"His (Pua's) status as a PAC member makes no difference, what matters is the rakyat who wants to know the truth about 1MDB," he said in a statement today.
Noh's stance appear to differ from most of his party colleagues who have backed Arul's condition that Pua first resign as a PAC member.
The PAC is presently investigating alleged misappropriation in 1MDB which is struggling to repay its US$11 billion loan.
