GANI'S SILENT BOMBSHELL: EX-AG'S DOES NOT DENY MUHYIDDIN'S CLAIM OF EVIDENCE NAJIB COMMITTED CRIME

GANI'S SILENT BOMBSHELL: EX-AG'S DOES NOT DENY MUHYIDDIN'S CLAIM OF EVIDENCE NAJIB COMMITTED CRIME
Former attorney-general Abdul Gani Patail is keeping his lips sealed over claims by suspended Umno deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin that there is evidence implicating Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak in possible corruption.
"I do not want to comment anything," he said when contacted by Malaysiakini.
Gani was asked to respond to Muhyiddin’s claim earlier today that he was presented with evidence implicating Najib in criminal wrongdoing in the deposits from state-owned SRC International Sdn Bhd into the prime minister's personal bank accounts.
"About the money from SRC International that went into Najib's personal bank accounts, I was personally informed by the former attorney-general (Abdul Gani Patail), together with evidence which clearly showed it to be a criminal act," he said in a statement.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had investigated the RM42 million deposit from SRC International and the RM2.6 billion donation deposited into Najib's personal accounts.
Both investigation papers were submitted to Gani's successor Mohamad Apandi Ali (photo), who took office after his predecessor was suddenly relieved of duty due to health reasons in July last year, about the same time Muhyiddin was removed as deputy prime minister.
In February, Apandi then cleared Najib of criminal wrongdoings in both cases, saying that the RM2.6 billion is a donation - which is not a crime in Malaysia - and that in the SRC case, the monies were moved without his knowledge.
Last night, the Umno supreme council met and decided to suspend Muhyiddin as party deputy president, for failing to perform his duties and assist Najib, who is the president.
However Muhyiddin claimed that he was prevented from performing his duties and was blocked at every turn. He believed that he is being sidelined because of his vocal criticism of Najib and the PM’s handling of 1MDB the RM2.6 billion donation scandals.
