Husband arrested after wife, 17, found dead

Neighbours call police after hearing loud arguments in the house all through the night.
policeIPOH: A 17-year-old woman, S. Durga Devi, was found dead in the living room of her house at Ladang Sengat, Simpang Pulai, here today after neighbours reported hearing loud arguments all night long.
Police found her body on the floor. Her was face badly injured, apparently a result of being punched.
Ipoh police chief Sum Chang Keong said police were alerted to the incident at about 7.30 am by a member of the public who heard a brawl going on at the victim’s house.
“The neighbour reported hearing loud arguments coming from the victim’s home from midnight to 5.00 am.
“The fight was believed to be over domestic problems. The body has been sent to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for post-mortem examination,” he told reporters at the scene.
He said the victim’s 27-year-old husband, a labourer, had been arrested at the house. No weapons were seized.
Traces of blood were found outside the house, which would be sent to the forensic unit for identification.
Sum said the couple had been married for a year but had no children. The house belonged to the husband’s father, he said.
