Return to Umno before it's too late, Syed Ali tells '3M'

Cheras Umno chief Syed Ali Alhabshee has called upon former deputy prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin, ex-Kedah menteri besar Mukhriz Mahathir and former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad to return to Umno's fold before they go too far off the beaten path.
"Before they go overboard, I sincerely advice that Muhyiddin and Mukhriz return to the path, I believe that they still love Umno," he said, in a posting on the Cheras Umno blog.
Both Muhyiddin and Mukhriz are currently joining hands with civil society and opposition leaders in an unprecedented non-partisan movement which signed the Citizens' Declaration calling for the ouster of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak by all legal means possible.
Syed Ali (photo) who is also Federal Territories Umno information chief said the duo should not blame anyone if disciplinary actions are taken against them, which may include expulsion from the Malay party, for their errant behaviour.
The veteran politician said that it is unethical for Muhyiddin and Mukhriz to share the same stage with an opposition party as they are still party members.
"Which is why, before they go too far, I really hope that both will return to Umno," he stressed.
He also hit out at Mahathir who was one of the architect of the anti-Najib declaration, adding that he was disappointed with the ex-premier for working with the opposition to topple the party he was once a very large part of.
"This is (the Umno and BN government) which Mahathir led not so long ago, for over 22 years, but now today he stands together with the opposition to topple the party," he lamented.
Syed Ali said that he is sad to see Mahathir doing this as it should not happen to an ex-PM, and it seems like the good doctor is being made use of by Umno's enemies.
The Cheras Umno chief said he hoped that Mahathir too would soon return to Umno's fold despite his much publicised and recently announced exit from the Malay party. -Mkini
