Chief Minister Musa Aman said prime minister Najib Razak had approved the proposal when he forwarded it earlier, according to NST Online.
He said the permanent secretary to the state finance ministry would be appointed a director of Petronas.
Musa made the announcement in a speech in the opening of a joint Umno delegates meeting of Kudat, Kota Marudu, Kota Belud and Tuaran divisions.
On Saturday, Sarawak had announced it had reached an agreement with the Federal Government and Petronas on seven issues, one of which was a seat on the Petronas board for a Sarawak representative. Chief Minister Adenan Satem said the state secretary would represent Sarawak.
