Kadir critical of gov't because of 'pent-up revenge', says Ku Nan

"Who is this Kadir Jasin? Why are you worried about Kadir Jasin?"

This is what Umno secretary-general Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor replied when a reporter attempted to ask him to respond to veteran newsman A Kadir Jasin's remark that the implementation of the minimum wage policy was a disaster.

Before the question could be completed, Tengku Adnan slammed the former New Straits Times group editor for his scathing blog posting yesterday.

"You must understand why Kadir Jasin is so outspoken.

"Because he was somebody before, and when new leaders took over he was asked to leave.

"He has pent-up revenge (dendam kesumat). When you have revenge, it becomes a problem," he said.

Kadir yesterday sarcastically gave his feedback to Prime Minister Najib Razak's upcoming budget saying he should let someone else formulate it, as the prime minister's administration has caused the people hardship.

He added that the only way to fix the economy was for BN to be replaced in the next general election.

'Don't be like Dr M'

Advising Kadir not to follow his emotions and try to "bring down" the government because of his discontent, Tengku Adnan said the same case applies to former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

"(Same) like what is happening to Mahathir. Why are you using your feelings?

"We are a government who cares, who is responsible, who will look after the rakyat.

"It's not nice for you to tarnish (the government) just because you don't get your way," he said.

Mahathir, who has been a vocal critic of Najib's administration, quit Umno early this year.

Along with sacked Umno deputy chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin and several others, Mahathir has formed a new party, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

Kadir is a staunch Mahathir supporter and has also been vocally critical of the current government. - Mkini
