SHAH ALAM: A Selangor Road Transport Department (RTD) officer was detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday on suspicion of accepting bribes from two construction companies.
According to a source in MACC, the 43-year-old suspect was detained at the Klang MACC office at 2pm.
The suspect was believed to have accepted bribes of between RM100 and RM300 monthly from the two companies as an inducement not to take legal action under the Road Transport Act 1987, during his time at the Kuala Selangor RTD weighing station in 2015.
“Apart from the RTD officer, MACC also detained three men, aged 41, 45 and 30, between 2.30pm and 4.45pm yesterday, also at the Klang MACC office,” said the source.
Selangor MACC director Alias Salim, when contacted, confirmed the arrests, saying the suspects would be remanded at the Klang Magistrate’s Court today to help in investigations. -FMT
