COVID-19 | Individuals connected to the three zones under the administrative enhanced movement control order (MCO) in Amanjaya, Kedah are urged to come forward for coronavirus screening, said the Health Ministry (MOH).
According to their estimates, there are about 9,490 individuals who have yet to get themselves tested for Covid-19.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement today that authorities have managed to screen 12,870 people at the three zones since Aug 28.
He said that the exercise had returned with one positive result, while 12,687 persons tested negative, with results from the remaining 182 tests pending.
"Congratulations to local residents who have given good cooperation to the multi-agencies team on the ground.
"However, it is estimated that around 9,490 more individuals have yet to undergo the screening process.
"Although this figure is yet to be confirmed, MOH would like to take this opportunity to call those who have yet to get themselves screened to present themselves at the screening centres," Noor Hisham said.
The individuals being sought include those in the contact tracing list, such as individuals who work or study outside the affected areas.
The government had implemented the administrative enhanced MCO on three zones in Amanjaya as part of efforts to curb the spread of Covid-19 there.
Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced the enhanced MCO on Aug 27, which affected 22,360 individuals.
Nobody is allowed to enter or leave the areas under the lockdown, and the residents will be screened, the minister had said. - Mkini
