Takiyuddin: No update on MACC's probe on AES takeover

Malaysiakini

The MACC has conducted an investigation into the takeover of the Automated Enforcement System (AES) project following claims it was done at an above-market rate of RM555 million by the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT).
De facto law minister Takiyuddin Hassan said today that the investigation was done in early 2019.
He, however, said the LTAT had yet to be informed of any further developments on the case.
"As of today, there is no further development that was made known to the LTAT on the status of the investigation," he told Mahfuz Omar (Harapan-Pokok Sena) in a parliamentary reply.
Mahfuz had asked if the graft buster agency had found any existence of an illegal money trail related to the payment of RM555 million by LTAT in acquiring the shares of the AES project.
He had also asked for the minister to reveal the status of the case.
In May 2018, the then Pakatan Harapan government set up an investigation committee on Administration, Procurement and Government Finance (JKSTUPKK) to probe dubious procurements by ministries under the previous government.
The committee started with the investigation of several projects under the Defence Ministry.
In March 2019, the Defence Ministry, after receiving a report from the committee, lodged a report with the MACC, questioning why the BN government allegedly instructed LTAT to take over AES project at the above-market price rate at RM555 million, 14 times higher than the original cost of RM40 million.
The AES project involves the setting up of computerised speed-trap cameras along selected highways throughout the country. - Mkini
