BUKIT MERTAJAM: A factory operator was threatened at gunpoint to admit that he had had sex with his former neighbour's wife, here, yesterday.
When the 30-year-old refused to admit to an affair, the neighbour fired two warning shots into the air, before threatening to kill the victim should he lodge a police report on the altercation.
Seberang Prai Tengah district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Shafee Abd Samad, said in the 1am incident, the victim was at home in Kubang Semang here when he heard knocking on his door and windows.
"The victim opened the door and found his former neighbour, known only as Ikmal, standing outside.
"The suspect produced an air rifle and demanded that the victim admit that he had had sex with his wife.
"When the victim refuted the allegation, the suspect let out two warning shots.
"The suspect then left before threatening to kill the victim if he lodged a police report," Shafee said today.
The suspect, in his 30s, has been detained and police seized the air rifle from him.
"Initial investigations showed that the incident occurred at the victim's rented kampung house.
"The suspect was previously living a few houses away, but moved out last April," he said.
The case is being probed under Section 36 of the Firearms Act 1960 for possession and importation of imitation arms; and Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation. - NST
