KUANTAN: A foreigner landed himself in trouble when he attempted to bribe policemen at Bukit Tinggi in Bentong to secure an interstate travel permit today.
The 28-year-old construction worker, who offered RM200 bribe to policemen to obtain the document, was instead detained and handed to the Raub branch of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
District police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the man arrived at the Bukit Tinggi police station at 9.40am to secure permission to travel to Kuala Lumpur.
"After going through the supporting documents, his application was rejected. Suddenly, the man brought out some cash and handed RM200 to the four policemen, including the police station chief who were at the counter.
"The suspect wanted police to give him the approval document to travel. The man was detained and later handed to the Raub MACC for further investigation," he said in a statement today. - NST
