JAKARTA: Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin was accorded an official welcome at the Merdeka Palace here today in conjunction with his two-day official visit to Indonesia.
Muhyiddin was greeted by President Joko Widodo. He then inspected a guard-of-honour mounted by the Indonesian presidential security force.
Muhyiddin arrived in Jakarta yesterday to begin the official visit, which signifies the strong relations between the two countries over the past 62 years.
This visit is his first to a Southeast Asian country after his appointment as prime minister on March 1 last year.
He is scheduled to have talks with Jokowi – as the Indonesian president is fondly called – on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation.
The two leaders are expected to hold a joint press conference following the talks.
Officials said Muhyiddin’s visit will also allow Malaysia to highlight the government’s latest policies. - FMT
