MCO 2.0 extended to March 4 in Selangor, KL, Johor and Penang

The second movement control order (MCO 2.0) for Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Penang has been extended for another two weeks from Feb 19 to March 4.

Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said all other states, with the exception of Perlis, will be placed under the conditional MCO.

Meanwhile, Perlis is the single state to impose the recovery MCO, with the most leeway in terms of Covid-19 prevention restrictions.

Interstate and interdistrict movements are still banned following the extension but movements within the same district are no longer restricted to 10km from a person's home.

"Previously all areas were subjected to the 10km radius rule. But today we decided to lift the 10km radius restriction, even in MCO areas.

"This is because more activities and businesses have resumed operations like restaurants, fishing ponds and others, so the 10km restriction is no longer relevant," he said.

On the interstate and interdistrict travel, Ismail said an announcement will be made once the government decides to lift the ban.

"But for now it remains imposed for all MCO, conditional MCO and recovery MCO areas," he added.

Overall, Ismail said other standard operating procedures currently being enforced will remain.  - Mkini
