The police have recorded PKR president Anwar Ibrahim's statement as part of their investigation into a joint statement by the Pakatan Harapan presidential council.
His lawyer Ramkarpal Singh said his statement was taken at the PKR headquarters around 3.30pm today.
"The said investigations are in respect of a joint official statement of the Pakatan Harapan Presidential Council made by Anwar Ibrahim, Amanah president Mohamad Sabu and DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng dated Jan 12, 2021," Ramkarpal said in a statement.
The police also contacted Lim to record his statement over the same matter.
Lim was scheduled to meet the police at the Timur Laut District police headquarters in Penang on Wednesday, but the meeting most postponed to an unconfirmed date.
In a joint statement issued on Jan 12, Lim, together with Anwar and Mohamad, disagreed with the government's decision to proclaim a nationwide state of emergency.
The Harapan leaders urged Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin not to hide behind Covid-19 and burden the rakyat with a nationwide emergency proclamation when he has lost the majority support in the Dewan Rakyat. - Mkini
