Cops nab woman who allegedly used colleague's MySejahtera account to get vaccinated

MELAKA: Police here have detained a woman who allegedly used another individual's MySejahtera account to get vaccinated at a private clinic here.

Melaka Commercial Crime chief Supt E. Sundra Rajan said the suspect is a foreign worker and added that she was arrested along with three of her compatriots and a local after investigators were alerted to the case.

"The suspect registered for the vaccination at a private clinic by scanning the details of another foreigner on Aug 18. A police report was lodged by her employer on the same day," he said on Monday (Aug 23).

He said police took the case seriously as they were looking for the involvement of syndicates in the misuse of MySejahtera.

However, he said preliminary investigations showed that the case was an isolated one and the probe was ongoing.

All four suspects are aged 35 to 45 and have been remanded to help with the investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and the Immigration Act 1959/1963.

According to Supt Sundra, the suspect is a factory worker who had allegedly misused her colleague's account to get vaccinated.

He said their employer suspected something amiss when he was unable to register one of his workers for vaccination and discovered the misuse.

Supt Sundra said a vaccination card, a fake Immigration identity card and an expired passport were confiscated from the suspect. - Star
