IPOH: A patient at the Slim River Hospital suffered nine per cent burns to his hand after an oxygen tank in his room caught fire today.
A Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the department received a distress call about the incident at 7.42pm.
"A team of firemen from Slim River was despatched to the scene and upon arrival, found the fire had been brought under control by hospital staff. The oxygen tank caught fire in the isolation room in which the 48-year-old male patient had been," he said.
The spokesman said the man suffered nine per cent burns to his hand, with the fire also damaging five per cent of the isolation room.
He added that the cause of the incident is still being investigated, adding that the operation ended at 8.55pm. - FMT
