The Perlis state assembly today approved a motion submitted by Menteri Besar Azlan Man to appoint two members of the Senate.
They are Aziz Ariffin, 68, and Seruandi Saad, 54, who will hold the posts for a period of three years.
The motion to appoint Aziz was seconded by Ruzaini Rais (BN-Beseri), while Seruandi's appointment was seconded by Rozieana Ahmad (BN-Pauh), and the state assembly unanimously supported the motion.
Aziz, the Padang Besar Umno Division secretary, was to replace Kamaruddin Abdun, whose term ended on July 25.
He is also active in an NGO as a Perlis Angkasa Liaison Committee member since 2014.
Seruandi, a special officer to Arau MP Shahidan Kassim, was appointed to replace Sabani Ahmad, whose term has also ended.
The Arau Umno Division secretary is also active in NGOs such as being the Perlis branch chair of the Malaysian Youth Council Alumni and is also a member of the Kangar Municipal Council.
