Teachers, those who missed second jab can walk in for Covid-19 vaccination

The special groups that will be allowed to walk in for their Covid-19 vaccination have been expanded to include teachers and those who have received their first dose but missed their second shot.

Apart from teachers, other Education Ministry personnel such as administrators and support staff will also qualify for walk-in vaccination.

This is on top of senior citizens, disabled persons and those aged 18 and above with comorbidities.

This applies nationwide, except for the Klang Valley where anyone aged 18 and above, regardless of category, can walk into selected vaccination centres.

"To ensure that vaccination drives throughout the country are enhanced, the walk-in vaccination initiative in the Klang Valley would soon be expanded to all vaccination centres (PPVs), to cater to several specific groups.

"States like Perak, Kedah, Penang, Sabah, Malacca and Sarawak have already started their walk-in initiative for senior citizens, as well as Kelantan that allows pre-booking.

"The details for walk-in vaccination at each state would be released by the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force (CITF) and the respective state Health Departments. This includes the vaccination schedule and daily quota for walk-in for each PPV," the task force said in a statement today.

Other groups that are qualified for walk-in vaccination in states outside the Klang Valley are people with different abilities (OKU) and those with comorbidities.

According to CITF, those who missed their second dose can also walk into any PPV nearest to their residence.

However, if the PPV does not have the same vaccine type as their first dose, the individuals will be referred to another PPV with the vaccine.

The task force said walk-in PPVs in the Klang Valley are now open according to each centre's operation hours and are no longer limited to starting at 2pm. - Mkini
