The vote of confidence to test Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's majority in the Dewan Rakyat is currently scheduled for Sept 7, said Communications and Multimedia Minister Saifuddin Abdullah.
This is based on the current schedule for Parliament proceedings.
"For now, that is the date, and a notice has been issued by the Dewan Rakyat speaker for it to be held on Sept 7," Saifuddin said in a virtual press conference today.
The House will convene on Sept 6 for the first meeting of the fourth term of the 14th Parliament.
As is usual practice, the first day of the first meeting will be marked by a royal address, after which the day's session will end and be resumed on the next day.
However, Muhyiddin is under pressure for Parliament to be convened sooner, including from the king, according to highly placed sources.
