JOHOR POLLS | With campaigning for state polls entering the second half, a total of five election candidates have come down with Covid-19.
The latest is Pakatan Harapan's Jementah candidate Ng Kor Sim, who is from DAP.
Ng confirmed that she had administered an antigen rapid test kit (RTK) today which showed that she is positive for Covid-19.
"Yesterday, I learnt that I had come in close contact with a confirmed Covid-19 patient. In the interest of safety, I suspended my campaign to self-isolate.
"I did a test yesterday, but it came back negative. However, a test last night came back positive and another test this morning was also positive," she said.
She apologised for the inconvenience caused. Ng added that she is in good health.
Yesterday, Harapan's Pekan Nanas candidate Yeo Tung Siong also confirmed he had been infected with Covid-19.
Earlier yesterday, BN's Penggaram candidate Ter Hwa Kwong also revealed he was tested positive for Covid-19 and will undergo quarantine.
PKR's Bukit Batu candidate Chiong Sen Sern confirmed on Feb 27 that he was infected with the Sars-CoV-2 virus.
A day earlier (Feb 26), which was nomination day, PKR's Gambir candidate Naim Jusri learnt he was Covid-19 positive upon arriving at the nomination centre.
Becoming infected means the candidates will have to quarantine for seven days, which is half of the 14-day campaign period. - Mkini
