The Pahang government has been urged to explain itself after Putrajaya has confirmed that it was not involved in a purported housing project in Bukit Raka, Bentong.
In a statement today, Bilut assemblyperson Lee Chin Chen said the written reply by the Housing and Local Government Ministry to the Dewan Rakyat had contradicted a notice board set up by the Bentong Forestry Department.
The notice board stated that the purpose of the land clearing in Bukit Raka was for the PR1MA housing project - a federal government initiative.
"The state government must explain who is lying on this matter because there are contradictory statements from the federal and state government," said Lee.
Lee has been dogging the Pahang government over forest clearing in the Kuala Raka Reserve in recent months following heavy flooding in the area in December last year.
Following this, the Pahang government instituted a state-wide logging moratorium.

However, residents of nearby Taman Shahbandar Height had complained that there were forest felling in the Kuala Raka Reserve.
According to the notice board leading to the site, the area - a slope - that was to be cleared for the housing project was 31.556 hectares (about the size of 44 football fields).
Pahang Menteri Besar Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has denied allegations that the forest was being cleared. - Mkini
